IYSA COACH OF THE YEAR

It is not everyday that one of our own is honored by Illinois Youth Soccer with such a prestigious award. BASA and FCX Director of Recreation and Community Relations, Emily Snyder, has been selected as the Illinois Youth Soccer Female Competitive Coach of the Year. Our club could not be prouder of Emily and all she provides our program. Emily has been working for BASA/FCX since 2003 and has coached over 750 players in our BASA and FCX programs. Congratulations on this honor!

Director of FCX, Stuart Peek, had these thoughts regarding Emily receiving this honor; "I have seen many awards and accolades presented and achieved in 25 years in the soccer coaching world. But rarely, if ever, have I seen one given, that is more deserving. I have known Emily as a younger child, as a fiercely competitive teen and as a D1 college soccer player, and now as a colleague for the past 16 years. Her knowledge of the game for sure helps her players, but her passion, will to achieve and more importantly, passing that fuel and zest for the game to her players is amazing to witness. Passion is a word that is overused, but not in this case.  Emily has it and always brings it. She has a tenacious spirit that helps her overcome all obstacles and situations. As she has matured as a person, she has become a great learning tool and not just for the players she is involved with, but also many young coaches she mentors. As my trusted colleague and friend, we run a large organization, and she wears 100 hats each day, be it contracts, payroll, coaching, the website, outreach programs... you name it, she does it. Our club has grown and achieved a lot, whilst still holding true to our beliefs, and have done so, with hard work and no shortcuts. It takes someone special to stick with that daunting task and Emily manages it with a smile and belief that is contagious. I have learned a lot from Emily in many facets of business and personally, and I am beyond proud of her, more than words can do justice. There is more to come, and I can say that as I see her fire to excel each and every day. Well done Emily, you have made me proud, and definitely the person looking down from above proud also." Stuart Peek- Director of FCX

Emily had this to say about receiving this award; "I am very humbled, shocked, grateful, thankful and of course proud to receive such a prestigious honor from Illinois Youth Soccer Association. I have played soccer all my life and have been coaching my entire adult career. I love the game and all it offers players both on and off the field. I grew up in Barrington and was lucky enough to watch my mom help establish BASA/FCX in 1992 and much of who I am today came from the amazing, strong, role mode my mother was. When I was a kid, I never thought I would grow up to be a soccer coach/director but this job has afforded me so much more than just coaching. I am a teacher, an administrator, an advocate, a friend, a role model, and so much more. I am so lucky and grateful to do what I do and each and every day I try and spread that love, passion and joy for this amazing game to every single player I coach. Soccer not only allowed me to learn and grow as a youth but has provided me such a wonderful career experience as an adult that I wouldn't change for the world. I remember every player I have coached, I remember every Coach who coached me or who I have worked along side. I remember the lessons they have taught me, the ways I have grown and matured through so many experiences both on and off the field. I want to thank IYSA for recognizing me and my coaching career but more importantly I want to thank my family, my Mom and Dad, and all the players, families and coaches who have touched my life and helped make me the person I am today. This honor will only continue to ignite the flame I have for our program, our players, our coaches and this sport." Emily Snyder- Director of BASA

Emily will receive her award at the 2020 Illinois Youth Soccer Awards Banquet on March 6th 2020!
